Its June already

yes folks, its June already.

Winter is definitely upon us. I can tell because no one can get out of bed in the mornings....we have an old weather board house, it loves to freeze.

Even so the days have been pleasant.

I received feedback form my mentorship application and.... no I didn't get one. I wasn't expecting it but its always nice to hope. They did write a nice little note telling me to continue writing the story and they hope I re-apply again next time. Cynically I presume its to get my $20.

Not to be put off I have been entering competitions left, right and centre. I'm hoping to enter a picture book comp along with my friend Helen, who is a frustrated graphic designer wanting to do illustrations. We will see what will happen with that.

I've been entering poetry comps too because my picture book text is like a children's narrative poem. I think I have no hope with that either, but then again I could come across a judge looking for something quirky and childish. Let's hope.

I haven't any new fads however I was thinking of getting a tattoo. I always said when I hit 40 I would get a tattoo. Well in 2 weeks time I will be 41 and so I haven't much time left. Tomorrow i think I will go to the tattoo shop and get a few prices.

I think I will stop self defence as its costing me a fortune in chiropratic bills getting my back put back in. I have another week to decide, that's when my subscription finishes.

Take care for now, see you next time.

Sounds like you're having a lot of fun, Carmel.

Sorry to hear about the mentorship, but as they say, one door closes, another opens.

I hope something comes from the competitions you're entering. It's always nice to know your work is appreciated.

As for the tattoo.. I had one done not long after I turned 21. My advice? Know what you want and do not change your mind once you get in there. I wanted a blue butterfly. When I looked at their books, I found a rainbow butterfly and decided on that one. Even though I like what I have, I still wish I'd gotten the blue one.

Good luck!!
